Ending a factory pigeon problem for one of SA's largest FMCG producers

Willowton Group produces edible-oil-based products at scale from its Pietermaritzburg factory and warehouses, a process the client says 'lends itself to contamination by birds' where product quality cannot be compromised. Over the years the company had tried various methods of controlling its bird infestation, without any long-term success.

BCS was called in to survey the problem, then treated the extensive factory and warehouse sites with the Vamoose Bird Repellent Gel wherever bird problems manifested within a building. Treatment was backed by ongoing inspections by BCS staff, which the client specifically credits, and used methods that are non-toxic and safe for a food-production environment.

The client's own words carry the result. Since treating the factory site buildings, the pigeon issue has ceased to exist, and the improvement has held under BCS's ongoing inspection programme.
